The cation exchange membranes are membranes that have a selective effect on cations. The cation exchange membrane is a selective barrier separating the anode and cathode compartments. The role of the membrane is to be selectively permeable to cations, preferably protons moving from the anode to the cathode.
Characteristics of Ion Exchange Membrane
- High ion selective permeability Commonly used expression of counter ion mobility or membrane transmittance, JCM, JAM series ions The selectivity of exchange membranes to counter ions is over 90%, and the permeability of ions with the same charge is low.
- High switching capacity and low surface resistance Homogeneous membranes prepared by immersion method have thin thickness, no adhesives and supporting materials, high charge density of functional groups, strong conductivity and much lower power consumption than heterogeneous ion exchange membranes. Membrane resistance is the main factor that decides the operation cost of the project.
